Why does smoke stick to clothes?
Smoke seems to stick to clothes more than skin or anything else. Why? I mean any kind ( bud smoke, tobacco, wood…)
clothes fibers and hair act like a filter or net concentrating the amount of free floating smoke particles, unless you run around, completely naked, the amount of exposed skin when wearing clothes is negligible.
The constant pumping action of cloth and hair as we move about acts like a vacuum pumps constantly moving air in and out of the fibers increasing the concentration. Skin get smoke particles too but because it is moist from sweat and oils it soaks up the odor better than the dry fibers and so it smells a little less
